Research Assistant

The UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health has an opening for a Research Assistant for the Beyond the Pill Program. This position will work as part of a dynamic team conducting contraceptive research with community college students and young adults throughout California.

Under the direction of the Research Coordinator, the Research Assistant will provide research and administrative support. This includes:

  • Recruiting study participants.
  • Collecting survey and interview data.
  • Contacting participants to complete surveys.
  • Packing and shipping study supplies to participants.
  • Assisting with data entry, cleaning, coding, and study documentation.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks.
  • Assisting in preparation of reports, presentations, and abstracts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and 1+ year work experience in a similar setting/role, and/or equivalent experience / training. 
  • At least 3 months experience in health research, health education and/or health services.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Valid/Unexpired U.S. Driver’s License
  • Experience with working with community college and youth populations.
  • Interest in reproductive health, reproductive justice and health equity.
  • Experience with research and data collection.
  • Experience entering, cleaning, and coding study data.

This position is based at the Mission Bay campus and requires travel throughout California up to 20% for study activities. This is a one-year contract appointment, with the possibility of extension. The annual salary range is $55,000 - $65,000, depending on experience.
