Research Coordinator

The UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health has an opening for a Research Coordinator who will coordinate and implement research projects for the Beyond the Pill Program. This position will work as part of a dynamic team conducting contraceptive research, including a multi-year randomized controlled trial of community college students and young adults in California and Texas.


  • Provide project management.
  • Contribute to the development of research protocols and data collection instruments.
  • Oversee and conduct data collection activities.
  • Train and supervise research assistants.
  • Coordinate implementation with study sites and other external partners.
  • Expand and facilitate community advisory board.
  • Contribute to data cleaning, coding, and analysis.
  • Contribute to proposals and donor reports, presentations, and manuscripts.


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and 3 or more years of experience in reproductive health research, education or services or other related field; and/or equivalent experience / training.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing platforms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Strong policy analysis techniques.
  • Highly organized and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health or a related field.
  • Valid/Unexpired U.S. driver’s license.
  • At least 1 year of experience using Stata statistical software to clean, code and analyze data.
  • Experience using qualitative data analysis software to code and analyze data (e.g., Atlas.ti, Dedoose).
  • Knowledge of ethical review board guidelines, HIPAA, and data confidentiality and security measures.
  • Experience with community engaged research.
  • Experience with working with community college and youth populations.
  • Demonstrated interest in reproductive justice and health equity.

This position is based at the Mission Bay campus and requires travel up to 20% for study activities, meetings and conferences in the US. The annual salary range is $66,000 - $80,000, depending on experience.
